The Human Element

In partnership with Earth Vision Films, Green Energy Ohio offered free screenings of the powerful documentary, The Human Element, throughout 2019. The Human Element documentary Highlights Americans on the front lines of climate change, inspiring viewers to re-evaluate our relationship with the natural world. GEO used The Human Element as a tool to initiate conversations on climate change and its consequences to local communities, with panel discussions following each screening. The film was shown in Athens, Dayton, and Columbus as part of our Climate Change Initiative.

The film has lost none of its power, beauty, or importance in the years since. The Human Element follows photographer Balog on a journey to distill this crucial moment in our environmental history into an approachable body of images and ideas. To achieve this, he breaks the topic into what ancient societies identified as the four elements of life: Air, Earth, Fire and Water, seeking to portray each element and examine how human activity has changed its nature.

We are very pleased to be partnering with Kent State University to show The Human Element on Wednesday, April 17 at 6:00 pm in Design Innovation Hub Auditorium, Room 219, 400 Janik Drive in Kent. The film will be followed by a panel discussion led by Professor Joseph Ortiz. The public is welcome and no registration is necessary.
